1. Summary

Woobius is using Ruby on Rails, hosted on a Linux cluster, for the backend and Adobe Flex for the front-end. Adobe Flex provides users with the immersive experience of a local application, but without the need to install software on the user’s workstation. The only requirement to use Woobius is a web browser with the Flash plug-in.

2. Data storage

We take all reasonable precautions to keep your information safe and secure. Our state-of-the-art redundant server cluster is hosted and professionally managed by EngineYard (http://www.engineyard.com/), a world-class Ruby on Rails host, out of a fully redundant and scalable cluster in New Jersey. Via EngineYard, we maintain the servers, the security, all the updates and improvements to the system on your behalf.

3. Connectivity

EngineYard’s clusters are connected to the web via 4 to 7 (for redundancy) OC-3 connections providing a maximum bandwidth of 350 Megabytes per second. Each slice (each server) is connected to this via dual 1 Gigabit/sec Ethernet connections, so they can take full advantage of that bandwidth. This ensures excellent and reliable connectivity to our servers.

4. System Availability

Our uptime availability is back to back with EngineYard which use commercially reasonable efforts to provide at least 99.9% System Availability in any given month (excluding those periods in which Engine Yard is performing Scheduled Maintenance).

5. Data backup

The database is backed up 7 days locally and 21 days after on Amazon S3 with 2048-bit encryption. All file data is backed up daily via a secure link to a separate location. We can perform full backup recovery in the event of a system-wide emergency. Our hardware is also fully redundant so even if one disk or server fails nothing will be lost and the system will not go down.

6. Data security

Users accounts are password protected, and encrypted secure links are used. Data sent between Woobius and your computer is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) the same technology that online banks and e-commerce sites use to keep your credit card information safe.
